This AR or ARC Rated shirt is ideal for electricians and people working around low voltage electrical systems. Available in yellow/navy or orange/navy with fire resistant reflective taping, this shirt is 200gsm making it comfortable enough for all day wear whilst also allowing you to meet safety obligations with its specialised fabric.

The Australian and New Zealand electrical industry must follow guidelines specified in AS/NZS 4863:2011 ‘Safe working on or near low-voltage electrical installations and equipment’. This includes minimum protective clothing for work where electrical hazards exist. If you are working near low voltage electrical systems, it’s critical for you to select ARC rated clothing, also known as AR clothing.

The standard states that you need ‘Flame-retardant clothing covering the full body (including arms and legs) and not made from conductive material or containing metal threads.’

It’s important to note that AR clothing is flame resistant (FR), but not all FR clothing has been ARC Rated. So, make sure you get the best protection available with ARC rated clothing. Shirts such as this protect against arc flash and are tested rigorously, and rated in a number of ways.

AR garments are rated with an ARC rating which is expressed ATPV (ARC Thermal Performance Value). There’s also a HRC (Hazard Risk Category) rating number, and ARC rated shirts also need to meet standards relating to high visibility.
